REQUIREMENTS OF BUREAU MEMBERSHIP

To be a member of the BBB, an applicant must:

  1. Be in business not less than one year, or the principals having been or are currently involved in other businesses which meet these standards or the firm is a branch of an existing member or company that meets these standards.

  2. Supply background information about company principals and employees, or other information deemed essential to the Better Business Bureau's responsibility to provide inquirers factual reports which bear on the reliability of the businesses.

  3. Cooperate with the Better Business Bureau's efforts to promote voluntary self regulation

  4. Use the name of the Better Business Bureau only as authorized by the Board of Directors of the Better Business Bureau

  5. When relevant, utilize the Better Business Bureau's mediation and/or arbitration procedures (or other BBB approved ADR procedures) in those cases where complaints cannot be resolved voluntarily.

  6. Adhere to established Better Business Bureau Standards of Advertising and supply requested evidence upon which any advertising or selling claim is based.

  7. Adhere to the Better Business Bureau Code of Ethics.

  8. Have and maintain all appropriate governmental licenses to operate their business

  9. Reply in a responsive manner to any and all complaints presented by the Better Business Bureau within 10 days.
  10. Make every possible effort to eliminate the underlying cause of any pattern of customer complaints which the Better Business Bureau may call to their attention.

  11. Sign a Membership Application and maintain all its financial obligations to the Better Business Bureau

  12. Support the principals and purposes of the Better Business Bureau by maintaining a positive image and reputation for the business which favorably affects the public's opinion of the Better Business Bureau and its members.

  13. Not be the subject of governmental actions which relate directly to its customer relations or allege fraud, deception or other misconduct bearing on the operation of its business.

  14. Have a written Customer Service Policy acceptable to the Better Business Bureau or agree to the Better Business Bureau Customer Service Policy.

Failure to comply with any of these requirements will result in the suspension or termination of Membership in the Better Business Bureau.
