The Better Business Bureau of
Northeast Florida was founded in 1987 and is a not for profit membership
association of business and professional firms. The Bureau is solely supported
by dues from members. The Bureau seeks to protect the consuming public and the
vitality of the free enterprise system by working to sustain ethical business
practices in the marketplace.
The BBB is
committed to the principle that fair and ethical business practices are good
for both buyer and seller. We believe the vast majority of buyers and sellers
are honest and responsible in their dealings with each other. The BBB collects
and reports information to help prospective buyers make informed decisions;
develops programs to encourage businesses to regulate their own advertising and
selling practices; and serves as a neutral third party to help settle
marketplace disputes.
This BBB serves 20 counties in
Northeast Florida- Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Dixie, Duval, Flagler,
Gilchrist, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lafayette, Leon, Madison, Nassau, Putnam, St.
Johns, Suwannee, Taylor & Union- and is based in Jacksonville at 4417 Beach
Blvd. Tom Stephens is the current President & Chief Executive Officer and
heads up a staff of 14. The Bureau is governed by a Board of Directors made up
of business people from within the serviced area.
